Marconi Memorial Contest with OM6A at Martinky
On the first weekend of November, I took part in a CW race for the first time in my life. I was to help our VHF team OM6A.
The November MMC contest is usually a time bomb in Martinské Holie, for frost or freezing rain tends to come at night. Frost forms on the elements from frost, the antenna is out of tune, PSV rises and then the final stage gets used to leave?. Frost is simply our killer and we have already had a few promising races “murdered”. It is impossible to fight against nature, but this year I brought an anti-icing 12m fiber-glass telescope…but let's get along.

The whole party met on Friday morning and brought everything up, where the cold November weather prevailed. The masts were assembled by evening, but because of darkness they did not stand until the Sabbath. A terribly strong wind blew and so the squares could not stand. We therefore built only two twins 2×7, one twin 2×9 and one sigle Yagi 16el.

We managed everything by the beginning of the race. I personally managed to reach the elevation just before four in the afternoon, since I had a hockey game. Since I don't go to CW, I helped the team mainly behind the ON4KST chat. Thanks to him, several nice DXes succeeded, but overall the conditions this time were not much. However, in addition to broadcasting, we also monitored the outside temperature with one eye, due to the mentioned icing. However, the temperature did not drop below all night 2 degrees Celsius. When I left V3Sku around 1 o'clock at night outside, the weather was really interesting. 2 degrees above zero, the wind didn't blow at all, it was clear and beautiful to see the stars. The connections went beautifully.

But at seven o'clock in the morning everything was different. Fog and windfall. These unfavorable conditions have made us so-called. blanket and was hoping for a good result. The connections did go, but while the competition succeeded DXy, we made them kind of less. A long German or a Frenchman fired here and there, but no cord took place. We just fought somehow with ourselves and on the second FT-1000 we listened to how the competition suited us. Whatever, even such a contest at 1500m above sea level.

In this “milk” we also finished the race. Preliminary result is 442QSO and about 170,000b. Our biggest competitors OM8A declare 461QSO and 173.500b.
As for the individual directions, from the map it is obvious, that we can express satisfaction with the directions on DL and I. UR directions were very poor this time,ME.
